Poly-Fiber FABRIC COVERING WEEKEND WORKSHOP!

May 3-4, 2008

Hosted By: Heros Aviation
South Hero Island, Vermont

HEROS AVIATION, the  New England and East Coast Poly-Fiber, Randolph,
and Ceconite distributor,  announces its ANNUAL Weekend Poly-Fiber
Aircraft Covering Workshop for this Spring, on the shores of Lake
Champlain, Vermont.

Weekend Poly-Fiber Fabric Covering Workshops have become popular over
the years, both for people who have never recovered a fabric airplane,
and for experienced coverers who want to see or hear the “factory way”.
The 2-day workshop applies to complete beginners, as well as a
review for anyone who wants to brush up on the techniques or learn the
latest materials and theories.  Attendance by experienced mechanics is
surprisingly high!

The weekend seminar is designed  to cover all the steps of the “Stits”
Poly-Fiber System, from preparation to final painting.  Students are
full participants; there is a minimum of lecture and emphasis is on
hands-on covering by the students.  Focus is on homebuilders and
restorers who want to do their own work, or help others in a joint
project.

The class is limited to 20 maximum to allow full participation.  Groups
of ten students or less are assigned their own Poly-Fiber
factory-trained instructors who stay with them through the group’s
individual component (a DC-3 aileron, which is an excellent
representation of a complete aircraft wing).  With full participation
by each student throughout the entire process, students receive
hands-on instruction in the following skills:  Aluminum, steel, & wood
preparation, fabric cementing with Poly-Tak Cement, iron calibration
and heat shrinking, Poly-Brush sealer application, rib lacing,
application of finishing tapes (doilies, bias, drain grommets,
inspection rings, etc), spray gun techniques and theory, actual
spraying of Poly-Spray and Poly-Tone Paint, fuselage and tail surface
covering, fabric repairs, painting fabric covered aircraft.   ALL of
the steps in order, to the finished topcoat paint!   An often heard
comment at the end of rib-stitching of  the ribs to give each person a
full and comfortable knowledge of that subject is “Hey, I can even do
that  myself now !”

The Weekend Covering Workshop will be run by Heros’ experienced staff
in their well-equipped Heros Aviation hangar in Grand Isle, Vermont.
Each student receives a full Poly-Fiber Manual with the course, and a
Certificate of completion.

The weekend of  May 3-4 (0830-1700 both days) was chosen because it
can easily be combined with a Spring weekend getaway. Spouses or
significant others can enjoy a relaxing weekend at a nearby New England
Inn or Bed & Breakfast, or explore the Lake Champlain Islands, travel
the 1.3 hours to Montreal for shopping, or enjoy the nearby Green
Mountains, Adirondacks, or take in the Vermont life in nearby
Burlington, Vermont, the Queen city of Vermont located right on Lake
Champlain.  Heros Aviation will provide a list of possible
accommodations and will endeavor to obtain participant discounts as
feasible.

Tuition for the event is in line with all EAA workshops:  $325 for the
2-day workshop, lunches included both days.    We must limit enrollment
so we encourage everyone to call now and register as soon as possible.
These workshops usually fill up very fast!

Anyone facing a covering project would greatly benefit from this
seminar.  Graduates leave with the confidence and the technical
knowledge to cover their aircraft.  Comments from graduates
consistently emphasize their enthusiasm with the program.  The
Poly-Fiber factory and Heros Aviation both feel that this is the
easiest and most efficient way to learn to cover the right way with the
fewest problems.

Come enjoy a learning weekend with top instructors in the world of
covering aircraft.  A field trip to a nearby grassroots airport after
class on Saturday to evaluate various covering jobs will be followed by
a social hour.  Lunches are provided by Heros both days.

There is not a question that cannot be answered by this team.  Please
call Doug Smith at Heros Aviation:  TOLL FREE 1-866-372-6161 or send us
an Email at HerosAviation@aol.com for more information.  Our web-site,
www.herosaviation.com will have this announcement and FULL information
about the workshop, accommodation and details.   Heros hopes to see you
at the end of April!
